Welcome

Hello! So glad you stopped by!

I’m so excited that this blog is finally live! It’s been my long-time dream to create one, but to be honest, I’ve always been a little intimidated by technology and didn’t feel confident enough to give it a go. But several months ago, a friend gave me the encouragement I needed to try, and with a little perseverance (and a lot of tech help) my dream is now reality.

Throughout the last several years, I’ve written many stories, many about our son, Micah. My writing began when I, while perusing the writing section of our local Barnes and Noble, noticed a book called Use Your Words: A Writing Guide For Mothers by Kate Hopper. I read it cover to cover, then learned she taught an online writing course as well. I enjoyed it so much that I took it twice! Not long after, I began another online writing course called, “Pen to Paper,” taught by Christi Craig. I have learned so much from both women, as well as the other class members who have inspired me with their writing.

My family is probably a lot like yours. We experience the same gamut of emotions: happiness, joy, sadness, frustration, forgiveness, anxiety, peace. However, what I hope you’ll find most throughout my stories and other posts is the love, joy and hope we have in raising our son–this amazing gift we were given more than fifteen years ago. I’ve learned so much since Micah came into our lives—about type 1 diabetes, about autism, about myself.

My desire is that you will find some measure of inspiration through reading my words, especially if you are raising a child with a medical condition or other special need. If nothing else, I hope you will feel less alone in this season of special needs parenting.

So, allow me to get started. Let me tell you about our family’s journey with a little boy named Micah and a mom who didn’t know if she could handle all the responsibilities of raising a child with two diagnoses. Let me tell you about the challenges as well as the triumphs. Let me tell you how we persevere and manage to find laughter, joy, and peace through it all.

Love this! Going to share with my sister Jennifer Kaiser her daughter (my niece) is 19 she has Battens Disease and is blind and in a wheel chair and she inspires me constantly and honestly changes how I see the world and the kind of person I am. My sister is amazing and is the person I admire most because of how she cares for Montanna every day. She will be inspired by you, just as I always am! ❤️
